How to Get Started with Spirituality – 4 Steps
A common question is “How do I Get Started with Spirituality”.
In my video today I would like to help with this question. This video will highlight 4 steps to help you get started. Before we begin, let’s reset.
Starting from where you are today, understand that thinking from the ego, as a victim, where the belief that things are happening to you, by some other, is sometimes being unable to take responsibility for your own actions.
Spiritual people look to help others and not further their own agenda. Paradoxically, those on a spiritual course go much further and find their life much more rewarding than would otherwise be the case.
Step 1 – Take time to meditate and reflect inwards on the choices you have made in the past. Identify the selfishness, resentment, anger, deception, or any other actions that have harmed yourself or others.
Step 2 – Forgive yourself and let it go. It is impossible to undo these actions now. The past has gone, and the damage is done. You cannot change misdeeds in the past, but you can resolve them now and in the future by thinking from the heart and not the ego. Thoughts from the heart are pure and with love.
Step 3 – Free yourself from distractions and set aside time for your spiritual journey. Remember that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” – Chapter 64, Tao Te Ching, Lǎozǐ circa 220BCE. Read a spiritual book, for example, the Tao Te Ching, meditating on one verse a day. It might be over two thousand years old, but it is still relevant today.
Step 4 – Identify your strengths from the perspective of helping your fellow man. Prepare a list and meditate on these strengths. Do not concern yourself with how to implement them. Just prepare an outline of how you can help your fellow man, and our planet, in some small but simple way.
These simple 4 steps will start you off in the right direction along your spiritual journey. If you move forward today, without any of those old filters, looking through the lens of love, you will find the journey, simply amazing.
